Chinese Chive Flowers with Shrimp

This one is an interesting modification of an ancient one.


  • 300 g Chinese chive flowers (cut)
  • 500 g shrimp
  • 1-2 cloves chopped garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar


Step 1

Chop Chinese chive flowers into 2-3 cm long pieces; chop garlic; peel shrimp.

Step 2

Take a medium sized sauce pan and preheat on a high fire with some oil. Add chopped garlic and stir well. As soon as garlic turns golden add shrimp, stir again until it turns pinky but not cooked.

Step 3

Add the chive flowers and stir well. Add fish sauce and sugar. Do not overcook flowers, make them to retain their crunchiness and cook until they turn light green.

Remove from the fire and serve while hot with rice
