This is the most classic Thai dessert and quite easy to prepare. It is best when you can get fresh mangos when in season in your area. But be sure you are using right rice: use only sweet rice and not a normal one.

  • 1 cup Thai sweet rice
  • 1-2 ripe mangoes (cut into bite-size pieces)
  • 4-5 tablespoons palm sugar
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Step 1

Take a medium sized bowl and combine rice and 1 cup of water and leave for several hours to soak water.

Step 2

Without draining add ¼ coconut milk, salt and palm sugar and mix well.

Step 3

Put on a medium heat fire and bring to boil, then partially cover and reduce fire.

Step 4

Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Turn off but leave in the sauce pan for a couple of minutes.

Step 5

Meanwhile, make a sauce: warm rest coconut milk and add 3 tablespoon sugar and dissolve well.

Take serving bowls and put rice into them, add slices of mango and then pour the sauce over it.
