Thai-style Prawns

Chili Garlic Prawns

This recipe is ideal for barbecuing the prawns either on the skewers or foil-wrapped. The lemongrass gives it an authentic Thai flavor along with the spicy marinade.


  • 600 g jumbo king prawns
  • 4 lemongrass (bruised stems)
  • 1 large red chili
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoon Thai fish/soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 2 teaspoon ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin (ground)


Step 1

Mix the marinade ingredients and add to the prawns. Leave for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Thread the prawns on the skewers, put in the centre of the grill on the lemongrass and cook for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally.

Step 3

Take off the lemongrass before serving.
