Thai-style Steamed Fish

Preparing this easy, quick and healthy recipe is a delicate and delicious way to serve a small whole fish. It is even better served with Thai jasmine rice and sesame seeds.


  • 2 trout fillets (140 g each)
  • ginger
  • 1 garlic clove (chopped)
  • 1 red chili (chopped)
  • 1 lime
  • 3 pak choi (quartered lengthways)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce


Step 1

Place the fish fillets side by side on a large square of foil and scatter the ginger, garlic, chili and lime zest over them.

Step 2

Pour the lime juice on top. Add the pieces of pak choi to the fish.

Step 3

Pour the soy sauce over the pak choi and make a foil package leaving the space for the steam to circulate while cooking.

Step 4

Let it steam for 15 minutes.

In case you don’t have a steamer, you can use a pan of simmering water with a heatproof plate over it.
